MP Service completed this project in two phases. First the team installed six reciprocating chillers and modified the network architecture for the control system. Next, MP Service replaced additional chillers and installed others, bringing the total number of chillers in the passenger terminal to 16. In the cargo terminal, the team installed central refrigeration equipment and a MACH-Stat controller.

MP Service divided the facility into six zones, each with their own chillers and air-handling units, and installed two MACH-ProWebCom and six MACH-ProCom controllers. The team integrated the MACH-ProCom controllers with the chillers using BACnet and created a subnetwork that included MACH-ProZone devices to control water recirculation. Thanks to the flexibility of the Reliable Controls system, MP Service was able to easily integrate more than 100 third-party devices.

A major challenge of this project was installing the building automation system while the airport was open and fully operational. MP Service completed all work without interruption to the air-conditioning in this busy facility in a region where the annual average temperature is 28°C (82°F). The Reliable Controls building automation system helped deliver an annual energy savings of 3.7 million kWh per year compared to the previous system.

In 2021 MP Service was back at the airport, working on the first phase of a 20-year modernization and expansion project that will increase its capacity from 1.6 million passengers a year to 6.6 million in 2032 and triple its cargo capacity over the next two decades. Learn more.
