The University of Alberta Hospital is a research and teaching hospital run by Alberta Health Services. The University of Alberta Hospital, the Mazankowski Alberta Health Institute, and the Stollery Children’s Hospital co-reside within the larger Walter C. Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre. Combined, the Walter C. Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre is one of the largest hospitals in Western Canada.
Authorized Dealer SERV-ALL Mechanical Services first worked at the Walter C. Mackenzie Centre in 1997, replacing an aging smoke control system with an Ethernet-based Reliable Controls system. In the years since, SERV-ALL has continued to update the facility’s building automation system to include more system objects and controllers in operating theaters, research labs, critical care units, isolation units, administration areas, and new buildings. Today the Reliable Controls building automation system includes hundreds of controllers and sensing devices.
In the fiscal year 2000, the facility reduced energy use to 18 percent lower than 1996 levels, earning the Walter C. Mackenzie Health Services Centre two awards from the Government of Canada’s Climate Change Voluntary Challenge and Registry Program.
