Across from the Markham Civic Center, in the city of Markham’s high-tech hub, the Hilton Suites Conference Centre & Spa is just 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) from historic Unionville. Every stay includes access to the hotel’s health club, which features a fitness center, squash courts, yoga and fitness classes, a sauna, and an indoor pool.
Authorized Dealer DCL Engineering installed a new Reliable Controls building automation system during a retrofit of the Hilton Suites Conference Centre & Spa.
The new building automation system controls the heating, cooling, and ventilation for each floor as well as the hot-water system. All BACnet controllers use an MS/TP connection to a corresponding main controller.
The HVAC system consists of a condensing boiler with hot-water distribution and two large-scale make-up air systems that provide variable volume heating and cooling to long-term stay areas. Each zone is controlled with fan-coil units. Spot cooling for the spa and convention center is accomplished with dedicated air-conditioning units.
Challenges in this project centered around replacing the existing remote terminal unit controllers, which were installed, mounted, and wired. When DCL Engineering replaced the old system with Reliable Controls, its capabilities were more than surpassed.
