Reliable Controls® Among Victoria's Leading Technology Firms
The Victoria Advanced Technology Council recently unveiled its top-25 companies for 2008, and once again, Reliable Controls is a proud member of this elite list.
Known locally as the VIATeC 25, the annual list is comprised of the largest -- by revenue -- tech companies headquartered or founded in Victoria. Altogether, the companies on the VIATeC 25 employ nearly 2,500 people and posted combined revenues in 2008 of $763 million, a figure down slightly from 2007 revenues of $866 million. The median average revenue of the companies on the list is listed at $13.3 million, a slight increase from last year's $13 million.
"We didn't see any real surprises on the list this year, but we were glad to see the median average climb. We expected, based on some acquisitions and reporting changes, there might be a decrease," said VIATeC executive director Dan Gunn. "We were pleasantly surprised to see the companies not affected by recent acquisitions actually had a phenomenal year and grew by over $100 million."
Reliable Controls is honoured to be a member of this prestigious list and thrilled at the opportunity to play a role in growing the Vancouver Island high-tech sector's overall revenues to $1.7 billion, making technology the number one private revenue producing industry in Greater Victoria. "The advanced technology sector in our region has shown dramatic growth in both revenues and employment, outpacing the provincial average for over a decade," said Gunn.
VIATeC also recently announced the results of its 2008 Food Bank Challenge which raised a record $222,000 for the Mustard Seed Food Bank, bringing to $869,000 the total raised over the last six years. Over the last two years, Reliable Controls has been a major player in the organization of the VIATeC Floor Hockey Tournament that has raised over ten thousand dollars for both the Mustard Seed Food Bank and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Victoria.
Founded in 1989, VIATeC is the conduit that connects people, knowledge, and resources necessary for growing a successful technology sector in Greater Victoria.
